Monroe committee positions

In the six municipalities of Monroe County that are in the Times News coverage area, voters from the Democratic and Republican parties will see numerous local names. They are of candidates seeking to represent the county and their municipalities on each of the parties’ county and state committees.

State committee

Six people are aspiring to membership on the state Democratic committee, with one man, one woman and one of either sex to be elected.

Candidates are Trenton Barry Schaffer of Polk Township, Tim Sanders of East Stroudsburg, Anne Tiracchia of Stroudsburg, Claudette Williams of Mount Pocono, Tameko Patterson of Stroud Township and Charles John Keppler IV of Pocono Township.

Voting for the state committee includes all of the Monroe voting districts.

On the Republican side, three people will be elected to the state committee in the same manner.

The candidates are Shelli Bird of Ross Township, Josephine Ferro of Middle Smithfield Township and Thomas C. Whitehead and Sal Piccolo, both of Tunkhannock Township.

Democratic committee

In balloting for the county’s Democratic committee, one contest is to be decided Tuesday.

In Hamilton Township South, two candidates are running for both the committeeman and committeewoman positions.

Jack K. Talbott and Nick Cirranello are running against each other for the committeeman post while Elizabeth S. Katz and Kathleen M. Kilker face each other for the committeewoman position.

The other uncontested candidates on the Democratic side:

Polk Township, Trenton Barry Schaffer and Farrah L. Schaffer; Tunkhannock Township East; Theodore Wolski and Deborah Chung; Tunkhannock Township West, Herbert Bryan Jr.; Chestnuthill Township Third, Nicholas Oviedo and Teresa Dalu; Hamilton Township North, William Ramon Sanchez and Ferdows Juya; Eldred Township, Alyssa Meadows; and Ross Township Second, Linda M. Zak.

There are no candidates in Chestnuthill’s First, Second and Fourth districts, nor in the First District of Ross Township.

Republican committee

There are no contests for Republican committee positions in the townships. The unopposed candidates are:

Polk Township, Michael Davidowski; Robert Butler, Ann Marie Miller, Ralph Schultz, Janet Dooner and Antoinette Gravell; Tunkhannock Township East, Sal Piccolo and James Vanderyast; Tunkhannock Township West, Thomas A. Whitehead and Thomas C. Whitehead; Chestnuthill Township Second, Jake Sarwar and Denise Hopely; Chestnuthill Township Third, Bridget M. Shanley; Chestnuthill Township Fourth, Wendy Mabel Heller, Deborah Modica and Daniel J. Willis; Hamilton Township North, Pamela Krieger, John Cronin and Terry Cronin; Hamilton Township South, Alexander Marek, Catherine Ferro and Robert J. Heil Jr.; Eldred Township, Jessica Keller and Sharon Solt; and Ross Township First, Sherri Bird and Edward Muczynski.

There are no candidates in the First District of Chestnuthill Township.
