The American Legion Post 314 of Lehighton will present its fifth annual Spring Basket Social from 4-8 p.m. today, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
There are nearly 330 baskets and about 75 gift cards, said Susan Steager, steward.
Steager said this year’s event will feature many large items, such as two patio sets and one picnic table.
The drawing will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday. There will be a separate drawing for the patio sets and the picnic table.
Steager expressed gratitude toward all those who assisted.
“We had so many people that volunteered,” she said. “All the people and businesses, literally without them we couldn’t do it.”
Steager added there will be a bake sale the entire time, and that the kitchen will be open during the basket social. There will also be a 50/50 raffle and lottery box.
“All the proceeds go to our building fund, which keeps our building up and running,” said Steager, who noted proceeds from last year’s event allowed them to redo the bar. “We’re hoping from this year’s (basket social) to get a key card system, and also have the air conditioner by the front of the bar fixed.”
