Nesquehoning

Historical Society

The Nesquehoning Historical Society has announced a Patriotic Evening of music with Dave Matsinko as part of the town’s America250 Celebration.

The event will be held at 6 p.m. on May 18. Doors open at 5 p.m.

The event will take place at the society’s museum, 157 W. Railroad St., and is open to the public free of charge, although donations to the historical society are always welcome.

Panther Valley library

The Panther Valley Public Library holds Pre-K Story Hour for children ages 3 to 5 from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesdays through May 20.

The event is free for all participants.

Clothing drive

The Shrine of St. Therese is holding a used clothing drive in Madonna Hall, the building behind the shrine in New Columbus.

The collection takes place from 10 a.m. to noon May 16.

Items to be collected include wearable, usable clothing for men, women and children; belts, handbags and stuffed animals; towels, sheets and pillowcases; and shoes.

Items should be bagged in tightly-tied 30 gallon plastic bags. Shoes should be in their own separate bag.
