Senior bowl adds point for S. Carbon
With two days left of competition in the 2026 Carbon County Senior Games, the South Carbon County seniors continue to lead.
After five days of competition, Lehighton and Palmerton have a combined score of 519; while North Carbon County seniors, made up of Jim Thorpe, Panther Valley and Weatherly, are hanging in there with a combined score of 214.
This week’s events included bowling on Monday with the outdoor events today. Wednesday, the final day of competition, includes bingo, pinochle and rummy and dancing.
The bowling event winners by age group are as follows:
Men’s divisions:
• 60-64: Richard Contrady of Weatherly, gold; Craig Mertz of Lehighton, silver; and Michael Nemeth of Palmerton, bronze.
• 65-69: Randy Kresge of Palmerton, gold; Drew Everett of Palmerton, silver; and Dennis Strohl of Palmerton, bronze.
• 70-74: Gene Hettler of Lehighton, gold; Don Gouger of Palmerton, silver; and Glenn Baushpies of Palmerton, bronze.
• 75-79: Robert Kulp of Lehighton, gold; George Mathews of Panther Valley, silver; and Bill Dunstan of Jim Thorpe, bronze.
• 80-84: James Laverick of Jim Thorpe, gold; John Fosdick of Jim Thorpe, silver; and Bill Gallagher of Palmerton, bronze.
• 85-89: Ron Bowman of Lehighton, gold; Robert Bochantin of Jim Thorpe, silver; and Reuben Zellner of Palmerton, bronze.
