Ready to paint

Volunteers from EMD Electronics in Hometown spent Friday painting over a wall where a mural for Tamaqua Liberty Tree Park will be created, along with back walls of the building, shown here. Their efforts were part of the Schuylkill United Way’s annual Captain Jason B. Jones Memorial Day of Caring, which sends volunteers to work on various community projects. The EMD contingent included Greg Clemson, Rob Sendatch, Shaun Midas and Jason Hartz, shown here, and Brian Newton and Jared Reitz, not pictured. The building is owned by St. Luke’s University Health Network and houses Tommy’s Restaurant. Last week, Brian Klusman of Great Dane Power Wash of Tamaqua cleaned the walls. Tamaqua borough crews will bring a bucket truck to finish painting the top of the walls. A mural will be added in the near future. JILL WHALEN/TIMES NEWS
