Two daughters pay tribute to their mothers

We asked readers to pay tribute to their mothers.

Here are a few of the responses:

Dakota Mulderig, of Albrightsville, said her mother, Shannon Kane, of Jim Thorpe “taught me self respect from a young age, and that lesson has guided me through so many of life’s choices.”

She said her mother “taught me how to laugh, keep moving and not take life too seriously. When it came to tough love, I was never really allowed to dwell, there was always a gentle push to pick myself up, keep going and trust that things would work out.”

Through hardships, heartbreak and challenges, she has always kept going. “She is one of the strongest people I know,” Mulderig said. “Every day she shows up for her family. First as a mother, and now as a grandmother — with a love that is steady, genuine and constant.”

She added, “You can usually find her gardening, reading, making the world’s best breakfast or selflessly caring for my brother following his traumatic brain injury. She is the glue that holds us all together, and we are so lucky to call her ours.”

Sherry Boyer, of Tamaqua, said of her mother, Nancy Rausch, of Slatington:

“I would like to say happy Mother’s Day to my mom. She raised me the best she could when I was little.

“She and my stepdad, who I called ‘Dad,’ gave me the best home they could. They always told me to ‘Try your best’ and ‘Do your best. Take one day at a time.’

“She helped me out the best she could. She raised me the best she could. I am her only child and then I became my stepdad’s daughter when they got together. “

Boyer said her mom is facing surgery. “It is hurting me every day knowing that I don’t know what’s going to happen. I’ll try and take day by day. I love my mother with all my heart I hope she makes it through this.”

“I would like to say thanks to my mom and happy Mother’s Day because she is a wonderful mom,” Boyer said.
