S. Carbon maintains huge advantage in games
With three days of competition under their belts, South Carbon County holds a decisive advantage in the 2026 Senior Games.
The weeklong event features 235 seniors throughout the county who range in age from 60 to over 90 years old.
The standings are South Carbon County, which consists of Palmerton and Lehighton senior centers, in the lead with a combined total of 366, and North Carbon County, made up of Jim Thorpe, Panther Valley and Weatherly senior center, 162.
Thursday’s event included billiards. The results are as follows:

Men’s division:
• 60-64: Rich Contrady, of Weatherly, gold; Vernon Corby, of Panther Valley, silver.
• 65-69: Randy Kresge, of Palmerton, gold; Drew Strohl, of Panther Valley, silver; and Keith Shelly, of Lehighton, bronze.
• 70-74: Dean Fisher, of Lehighton, gold; Bernard Bott, of Jim Thorpe, silver; Rick Van Horn, of Panther Valley, bronze.
