May 4, 1974 — Lehighton captures two firsts, as does Palmerton’s Jim Hay at the 24th Emrey Relays at Lehigh University’s Saucon Valley field. Rich Hunsicker and Andy Homyak are part of both Indian relay squads that earn gold. The two team with Gary Schleicher and Steve Green to claim the 2-mile relay in a meet record time of 8:23.6, and then join Todd Rehrig and Kevin Koch to take the top spot in the distance medley relay with a mark of 11:25.6. Those victories help Lehighton earn first in the Class B Relay team standings. Hay edges out teammate Jan Krawchuk to win the long jump with a distance of 19-6 and clears 6-0 to take the high jump. The Bombers claim first in the B Field team standings.
