Local roundup: Results from April 10

The Panther Valley and Tamaqua baseball and softball teams all secured wins on Friday.

Elsewhere, the Weatherly softball and Palmerton boys tennis teams also picked up victories.

BASEBALL

Panther Valley-Nativity

Danny Wehr allowed one Nativity hit over 6.2 innings to lead Panther Valley to a 7-0 win.

Wehr struck out 15 Hilltoppers while walking just three batters to earn the win.

Brody Briner (2-for-4, 3 RBIs, 2 runs) was one of three Panthers with two hits in the game. Carson Jones (2-for-4, 2 RBIs) and Weher (2-for-4, RBI) .

Minersville-Tamaqua

Tamaqua beat Minersville 12-1 for its first win of the season.

Jake Yenser allowed six hits over five innings and earned just one of the six runs he allowed as the Raiders committed seven errors in the win.

Yenser also went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a pair of RBIs. Gavan Hess also went 2-for-3. Landon Kamant went 1-for-2 and drove in three runs for Tamaqua.

SOFTBALL

Shenandoah-Panther Valley

The Panthers cruised to a 15-1 win over Shenandoah Valley in four innings.

Ava Alabovits pitched a one-hitter for the Panthers. She also had three hits and drove in a pair of runs in the win. Danika Blozosky went 2-for-3, scored three times and drove in two runs. Caroline Breslin went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI. Megan O’Brien went 2-for-3, drove in three runs and scored once.

Pleasant Vy.-Stroudsburg

Stroudsburg took a first-inning lead en route to a 7-3 win over Pleasant Valley.

Madison Perez (2-for-4, 3 RBI, 2R) and Dot Elko (2-for-4) led the Mountaineers, who had seven hits and 10 walks in the win.

Jordan Cook allowed six hits over seven innings to earn the win.

Rylan Knapp had two hits for the Bears.

Tamaqua-Tri-Valley

Tamaqua scored runs in each of the last five innings to beat Tri-Valley 10-5.

Paige Bumbluksy went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and three runs scored for the Blue Raiders. Ceanna Gormley went 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Molly Evans and Naomi Knitter had two hits each in the win.

Knitter pitched all seven innings, allowing five runs (three earned) on nine hits while striking out seven batters.

Summer Cupsta led Tri-Valley with three hits and a pair of RBIs in the loss.

Weatherly-Lourdes

Weatherly scored in every inning in a 17-5 win over Lourdes Regional Academy.

Aisha Zuberi had three hits, three runs scored and two RBIs for the Wreckers. Elizabeth Digenaro was 3-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Abby Weston, Rebecca Caldwell, Cortney Snyder and Abby Binder had two hits each for Weatherly. One of Caldwell’s hits was a home run.

Binder allowed six hits in seven innings while pitching around seven Wrecker errors. She struck out 13 batters while allowing five runs (three earned) and walking five.

Ariana Adams went 3-for-4 for Lourdes. Estella Bressi went 2-for-3 and drove in two runs.

Pleasant Valley beat Freedom 5-1.

John Hargrove, Isaac Klein and Liam Angell won singles matches for the Bears. Logan Krock and Noah Conklin earned a doubles win while teammates Gav Toney and Ben Jochen won their doubles match.
