Local Roundup: Results from April 7

Panther Valley and Northern Lehigh both recorded wins in baseball and softball action on Tuesday.

The Panther baseball squad downed Executive Education for their first victory of the season, while the PV softball team rolled past Lourdes. The Bulldogs, meanwhile, defeated Lehighton.

In other action, Jim Thorpe’s baseball team no-hit Moravian Academy.

BASEBALL

Jim Thorpe-Moravian

Cole Lazorick had four hits and drove in four runs to lead Jim Thorpe to a five-inning 14-0 no-hitter victory over winless Moravian Academy in a Colonial League tilt.

Lazorick roped a three-run double during a five-run fourth inning. Noah Pastor, who started the game, had two hits and two RBIs, and Lee Edwards knocked in two runs.

Pastor, Tyler Hoherchak and Nathan Frantz all combined on the no-hitter.

Frantz and Michael Antignani both had two hits for the Olympians, while Frantz, Caden Hess, Zack Murphy, Luke Bosi and Lucas Knopf each added an RBI.

Northern Lehigh-Lehighton

Northern Lehigh took the lead in the fifth inning, and the Bulldogs held off Colonial League foe Lehighton, 8-4.

Pablo Rivera’s two-run single highlighted a four-run, fifth inning that pushed the Bulldogs ahead to stay. Landon Cougle’s two-run single in the first inning gave Northern Lehigh a 2-0 advantage.

The Bulldogs, who now have a five-game winning streak, drew eight walks but also committed six errors.

Cash White and Logan Bellis each tallied a pair of hits for the Indians, while White and Braylon Hunsicker each plated a run.

Northwestern-NDGP

Northwestern rallied from an early deficit, but the Tigers fell just short, 6-5, in a battle of Colonial League heavyweights.

Notre Dame jumped out to a 4-0 lead before Northwestern responded with a three-run fourth inning. Both teams scored solo runs in the sixth and seventh frames.

The Tigers managed only three hits, but drew nine walks. Lucian Sterling, Cole Dynda and Jake Carson all collected a hit for Northwestern, while Ethan Konyak, Brady Krimmel, and Tanner Fronina all had RBIs.

Konyak and Cannon Fitch each walked twice.

The Crusaders received three hits from both Clemente Cintron and Connor Albert.

Panther Valley-Executive

Danny Wehr allowed one hit and struck out nine to pace Panther Valley to its first win of the season with a 12-0 shutout over Executive Education.

Wehr, who collected two hits, went 4 1/3 innings, while Gabe Perilli struck out the final two batters to close out the five-inning game.

Brody Breiner smacked three hits, and Gavin Yuricheck, Michael Mazzie and Carson Jones all contributed two RBIs.

Weatherly-Nativity

Nativity stormed out to an early lead, and the Hilltoppers went on to rout winless Weatherly, 11-1.

The Hilltoppers took a 6-0 lead in the first inning. Cash Kalkiewicz allowed Weatherly’s two hits and struck out three over four innings. Nick Clark pitched two innings of hitless relief.

Niko Suarez had a hit, and Kameron Jacoby added a hit and an RBI for the Wreckers.

Northern Lehigh-Lehighton

Northern Lehigh held off Lehighton for a 12-8 Colonial League victory.

Addison Smith was a perfect 5-for-5 at the plate, as she recorded four singles, a double, two runs and three RBIs.

Smith also went the distance in the circle, striking out 10 and walking three.

The Bulldogs’ Kenzie Chrusical added four hits, two of them doubles, scored twice and had three RBIs.

Peyton Hausman led the way for the Indians, collecting three hits, a run and three RBIs. Amber Yeakel added three singles, a run and an RBI.

NDGP-Northwestern

A five-run sixth inning for Northwestern wasn’t enough, as Notre Dame held on for a 7-5 Colonial League victory.

Sam Boyer put the Tigers on the board in the sixth when she scored on a bunt single by Ella Bressi. Natalie Conner had a fielder’s choice RBI, while Abby Dunstan singled home a run. Alyssa Behler’s also delivered a two-run triple.

Behler ended with a double and a triple in the losing cause.

Panther Valley secured its first Schuylkill League win of the season, as the Panthers cruised to a 19-3 win over visiting Lourdes.

Isabella D’Ancona was 3-for-4 at the plate with three doubles. She also scored three runs.

Sadie Mae Frets also added two singles, a walk, two runs and four RBIs. Brooklynn Mika ended the game with a three-run home run.

Weatherly pushed Nativity’s losing streak to five games, as the Wreckers rolled to a 15-5 Schuylkill League win.

Maci Kane had the big bat for the Wreckers, finishing with a two-run double in the first, a two-run triple in the second and an RBI single in the third. She also scored three runs.

Raven Biles chipped in with three hits, one a triple, and two runs. Aisha Zuberi added two doubles and three RBIs.

In a tight matchup, Pleasant Valley outscored Emmaus in the second quarter, which proved to be the difference in an 8-6 victory.

The Bears’ Brielle Halamar finished with five goals, while Sam Miller added two, and Emilynn Stipeck made four saves.

Tyler Kaas led the Tigers with four goals, while Grayson Christman chipped in with three.
