Mahoning man jailed after 2 domestic incidents

A Mahoning Township man is the Carbon County Correctional Facility in Nesquehoning without bail after police responded to two domestic incidents within two days.

Joshua George, 22, of Lower Nis Hollow Drive, was charged with simple assault and harassment on Thursday following an incident where a neighbor saw him dragging a woman across the yard.

He was committed to the county prison in lieu of $5,000 and released on Friday after posting bail.

On Saturday, Mahoning Township police responded to a report of a man threatening to kill a woman on Lower Nis Hollow Drive and that an older, blue Chevrolet Suburban was involved.

Police found the vehicle at the same residence as the previous domestic incident and spoke to the woman who had been involved. She told police that she was arguing on the phone and that George was still in prison.

Police contacted the prison and found that George had been released and asked the woman again if she had been arguing with George, court papers said.

She admitted that she had been arguing with George, but that he had left the area. Police asked if he was in the residence, and she told police that he was not and they could check, court papers said.

The woman secured her dogs and allowed police into the residence, and they announced their presence and asked George to come out with his hands up, court papers said.

George came down the hall with his hands up and police arrested him, court papers said. One of his bail conditions from the prior domestic was to refrain from entering the home.

Weatherly District Judge Joseph Homanko arraigned George on a charge of defiant trespass and denied bail as he was deemed a threat to society and for violating previous bail conditions. He remains in the county prison awaiting a preliminary hearing scheduled for April 29.
