Local Roundup: Results from April 4

Palmerton’s softball team remained perfect by defeating Stroudsburg on Saturday.

SOFTBALL

Palmerton-Stroudsburg

In a battle of undefeated teams, Palmerton broke a tie score with a run in the seventh inning and held on for a 2-1 non-league victory over host Stroudsburg.

After the Mounties tallied in the home sixth to deadlock the game at 1-1, Trumbore led off the top of the seventh with a double. Two outs later, Grace Schneider singled to right to chase home the go-ahead run.

Hailey George then finished off her four-hitter, getting three of her 14 strikeouts in the bottom of the frame.

Palmerton’s other tally came in the third inning when Jaylin Strohl’s RBI single brought home Hailey Barry. Olivia Kalman and Barry both had a pair of hits in the winning effort.

Stroudsburg’s Dot Elko had two hits, while Madelyn Vargas suffered the loss, fanning eight.

BASEBALL

Panther Vy.-Williams Vy.

John Rautzahn pitched a four-hit shutout to lead Williams Valley to a 3-0 non-league victory over visiting Panther Valley.

Rautzahn struck out four and didn’t allow any walks.

Cayden Witmer paced the Vikings offensively with a pair of hits, a run and an RBI. Rautzahn also helped his own cause with a hit and an RBI.

The Panthers’ Brody Breiner pitched well in defeat, giving up just five hits and one walk while fanning eight. Breiner also had two of his team’s four hits.

Northampton-Pleasant Valley

Northampton jumped out to an early lead and coasted to an 11-1 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory over Pleasant Valley.

The Konkrete Kids plated six runs in the second inning, which included a two-run single by Brady Simock and RBI hits from Charlie Burrell and Casey Williams.

Simock added a two-run homer in the seventh, while Williams also tripled and scored three times.

For the Bears, Sam Smale had a pair of hits. Braydon Green chipped in with a hit and an RBI.
