The Palmerton Memorial Park board of trustees yesterday named Willard Wilhelm manager of the community swimming pool and scheduled a May 30 opening date.

The trustees announced several planned improvements for the pool, including a new home to house the chlorinator, a new drinking fountain at the west end of the facility and a new fiber glass swimming pool to replace the existing wooden one. Eventually, all of the board will be replaced with the newer models.

Plans will be studied for the erection of a Fiske-Bleiler memorial plaque at the pool. It will be in memory of C.P. Fiske, longtime president of the trustees, and Ira Bleiler, whom was among those instrumental in the pool’s construction.
