A pair of big innings set the tone for Marian, as the Colts and Fillies powered their way to decisive wins over Nativity Thursday.
BASEBALL
Nativity-Marian
Marian scored seven runs in the fourth inning, and the Colts went on to an 11-1 victory over Nativity.
Chase Grier went the distance for the Colts, allowing four hits and one run while striking out five and walking one.
The Colts took advantage of six Nativity errors that led to six unearned runs.
Alex Diaz, Roman Bednarek, Jonathan Derr, Cole DeFrancesco and Cole Jordan each drove in a run, while Noah Bauder had two hits for Marian.

Panther Valley-Pottsville
Panther Valley couldn’t provide the necessary offense to back its pitcher, as Pottsville earned a 6-1 Schuylkill League victory.
Danny Wehr went five innings for the Panthers, allowing five hits and one earned run while walking two and striking out nine. However, he was charged with the loss after allowing three runs.
Carson Jones accounted for Panther Valley’s two hits, singling in the second and fifth innings.
Harrison Ciavarella led Pottsville, finishing with a single, a home run, a walk, two runs scored and an RBI.
Landon Trout capped the scoring with a two-run homer in the sixth inning — the same inning Ciavarella also went deep.

Blue Mountain pulled away for a 15-4 win over Tamaqua in Schuylkill League play.
The Eagles scored four runs in the first inning and added four more in the seventh, matching Tamaqua’s total output for the game.
Cohen Kirby and Frankie Russo highlighted the third inning, as both homered. Kirby hit a solo shot, while Russo added a two-run homer.
Brady Strause led Blue Mountain with a single, double, two runs scored and two RBIs.
Ryder Holmberg and Luke Frohnheiser each had two hits for Tamaqua. Holmberg had a single and double, while Frohnheiser added two singles and an RBI.

Jason Correll led the Battlin’ Miners with RBI singles in the second and fourth innings, and added a two-run single in the third. He also scored twice.
Nate Halupa contributed a sacrifice fly in the first, drew a bases-loaded walk in the third, and added an RBI single in the fourth. He finished with two runs scored and three RBIs.
Raymond Montz scored Weatherly’s lone run in the third after reaching on a hit by pitch, advancing on an error and scoring on another miscue.

Pugh hit a solo homer, while Upanavage added an inside-the-park two-run shot as part of a five-run first inning.
Pugh finished with three hits, while Upanavage had two hits and three RBIs. Hailey Treskolasky added two hits and an RBI.
Kayla Birrer pitched three innings, allowing three hits, while Malina Letchner allowed one run and struck out five over the final two innings.
Nativity committed eight errors, leading to nine unearned runs.

Emma George and Emma DePalma each added two hits for Pleasant Valley.
The Bears committed six errors and issued eight walks.

Breslin Invitational
Jim Thorpe, Lehighton and Panther Valley competed at the Breslin Invitational at Mount Carmel.
Jim Thorpe earned two victories, as the boys 4x100 relay team won in 43.35 and Kayden Spence captured the 400-meter dash in 50.18.
Bodie Hawk of Lehighton placed third in the discus (141-6), and sixth in the shot put (45-9).
Isabella Roman finished second in the javelin (113-0), while Stacy Bos placed third in the 800 (2:34.89).
Elijah Pagotto added a third-place finish in the 1600 (4:45.60).
Clair Strohl (pole vault), Kennedy Quinn (800) and Claudia Pagotto (1600) also placed for Lehighton.
Additional placewinners included Spencer Gothard (300 hurdles), Logan Gillespie (1600), Pierce Gothard (high jump), Kimora Seales-Griffith (high jump) and Vanessa Sadler (discus).
Morgan Orsulak led Panther Valley with an eighth-place finish in the long jump (14-7 1/2).
Jim Thorpe finished eighth in both the boys and girls team standings, while Lehighton placed 11th in the boys and 13th in the girls.
