The Jim Thorpe Area School Board, comprised of Jim Thorpe Borough and Penn Forest Township, voted unanimously at last night’s meeting against the recent state act stipulating that the size of school districts within the state be increased to at least 4,000 students.

Jim Thorpe joins a growing list of many school districts within the state opposing the plan which will force all smaller districts into consolidation.

Board members challenging the state law include Jackson, Morgan, Hodor, Kishbaugh, Helmer, McFarland, Miller, Berger, Feurstein, DeBillis, Reitz and Gover.
