Track & Field Roundup: Results from March 31
The Northwestern boys and girls track and field teams both recorded victories against Salisbury on Tuesday.
Jim Thorpe-Northern Lehigh
Jim Thorpe’s boys and Northern Lehigh’s girls earned victories in a Colonial League meet.
The Olympians posted a 107-42 win on the boys side, while the Bulldogs edged Jim Thorpe 77-69 in the girls meet.
Jim Thorpe’s boys were led by several multi-event winners, including Kayden Spence, who swept the 100 and 200. Nathaniel Estevez won both the 400 and 110 hurdles as the Olympians also swept the 400, 1600 and 3200 relays.
On the girls side, Northern Lehigh was paced by Natalie Moffitt, who won the 200 and 400.
Teammate Taylor Everk added wins in both the long jump and triple jump as the Bulldogs secured the team victory, while Emma Heil captured the 3200 and finished second in the 1600.
For Jim Thorpe, Vanessa Sadler won the shot put and the discus, while Logan Gillespie won the 1600 and placed second to teammate Stacy Bos in the 800.

Northwestern-Salisbury
Northwestern swept Salisbury in Colonial League action, with the Tigers winning 111-39 in the boys meet and 129-20 in the girls competition.
On the boys side, Northwestern was led by double winner Shane Leh, who swept both hurdle events. The Tigers also controlled the distance races, sweeping the 800, 1600, and 3200, with wins from Brady Furman, Weston Killar, and Kieran Baker.
In the field, Ian Zettlemoyer (shot put), Harrison Wertman (javelin), and Michael Lagowy (high jump) added victories, while Northwestern also won all three relays. The Northwestern girls piled up wins in nearly every event behind several double winners. Sophia Schaffer led the way with victories in the 100 and 400, while Taylor Langley swept both hurdle races. In the throws, Mallory Conner doubled up by winning both the shot put and discus. Additional wins came from Emily Kistler (800), Madison Bisner (1600), and Charlotte David (3200), while the Tigers also claimed all three relays.

Palisades-Lehighton
Palisades and Lehighton split their Colonial League meet.
The Pirates posted an 88-62 win in boys action, while the Indian girls registered an 87-63 victory.
Owen Eckhart was a double winner for the Lehighton boys, taking both the long jump and high jump. Lehighton also received firsts from Sawyer Hoffman (400) and Equan Warner (110 hurdles).
On the girls side, the Tribe’s Lilyana Shapiro led the way with victories in both the 100 and 400, while Kennedy Quinn added wins in both the 800 and shot put. Other firsts came from Claudia Pagotto (1600) Lillian Klotz (100 hurdles), Hallie Miller (discus), Leah Uyvari (javelin), Adelenne Yenser (long jump) and Kailee Thomas (high jump).

Pleasant Valley-Nazareth
Nazareth swept Pleasant Valley in Eastern Pennsylvania Conference action, winning the boys meet 107-43 and the girls meet 109-40.
Pleasant Valley, however, had several strong individual performances across both meets.
On the boys side, Royce Thompson led the Bears with a win in the 200 – where Pleasant Valley swept the top three spots – and a second-place finish in the 100. In the field, Collin O’Neill captured the shot put while Cole Vanderah placed second, and Nicholas Bruckman earned a victory in the discus.
The Bears also picked up a win in the 400 relay.
On the girls side, Sofia Aspioti led Pleasant Valley with a win in the discus with Amaya Fuentes finishing second, while Alexandra DePalma placed first in the pole vault. Kylie Fuentes placed second in both the shot put and javelin.

Pottsville gained a Schuylkill League sweep of Tamaqua, as the Crimson Tide won the boys meet 100-50 while the girls edged the Blue Raiders, 79-71.
The Tamaqua boys received firsts from Sanchez (400), Elston (1600), Steencken (3200) and McDowell (triple jump).
In the girls meet, individual wins for the Raiders came from M. Black (400), Schaefer (800), Pliska (1600), L. Black (discus), York (high jump) and Rivera (pole vault). The Tamaqua girls also swept all three relays.
