Local Roundup: Results from March 31

Marian rolled to a pair of Schuylkill League victories in baseball and softball action on Tuesday.

The Colts and Fillies both gained mercy rule wins against Shenandoah Valley.

Other teams having success included Tamaqua softball and Pleasant Valley girls lacrosse.

BASEBALL

Marian-Shenandoah Valley

Jonathan Derr drove in four runs to lead Marian to a 13-3 Schuylkill League rout of Shenandoah Valley.

Derr’s three-run homer was part of a five-run third inning that broke the game open.

Brayden Grant drove in two runs on two hits, and Cole Defrancisco added two hits for the Colts.

Defrancisco earned the win for Marian, allowing three runs and five hits over five innings, striking out three and walking two. Cole Jordan pitched a hitless final inning.

Pleasant Vy.-Stroudsburg

Stroudsburg erupted for nine runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to help the Mountaineers pick up their first victory, moving past Pleasant Valley 12-1 in EPC play.

Jacob George knocked in the lone run for Pleasant Valley. Gavin Bates, Chase Borger, and Mason Goff each had the other hits for the Bears.

Stroudsburg starter Damian Budhai struck out 11 and allowed three hits over five innings.

Weatherly-Williams Valley

Williams Valley had little trouble in a 15-0 three-inning victory over Weatherly.

The Vikings plated six runs in the opening inning and followed with an eight-run second stanza. They pounded out 13 hits and took advantage of nine walks.

Jeremiah Donadi had the lone hit for Weatherly.

Chase Slotcavage twirled a no-hitter and struck out 14 to lead North Schuylkill to a 9-0 shutout over Panther Valley in Schuylkill League play.

The Spartans supported Slotcavage with a six-run third inning.

Derek Lazar was Panther Valley’s lone baserunner with a walk.

SOFTBALL

Shenandoah Valley-Marian

Hailey Treskolasky launched a grand slam in the first inning to kickstart an offensive outburst for Marian that took down Shenandoah Valley 22-7 in Schuylkill League play.

The Fillies put up 12 runs in the first, followed by the Blue Devils responding with seven in the second. Marian added three in the second and seven more in the third to walk off Shenandoah.

Treskolasky led the Fillies with five RBIs, while Deanna Pugh, Malina Letcher and Savanna Sirkot each had three.

Peyton Faust hurled a five-inning shutout, striking out 11 and only giving up two hits and three walks to help Tamaqua gain a 13-0 Schuylkill League win over Lourdes.

Naomi Knitter produced a bases-clearing triple as part of a six-run fourth inning for the Raiders.

Ceanna Gormley added a perfect 3-for-3 at the dish and scored four runs.

Julia MacPhee struck out seven batters in a complete-game victory to help Pocono Mountain West defeat Pleasant Valley 6-2 in EPC action.

Emma Covino hit an RBI-triple in the third to give the Panthers the lead that they would build on and hold the rest of the way.

Lila Borger and Rylee Green each had two hits for the Bears, while Borger and Emma DePalma both collected an RBI. Maddie Abbatiello racked up six strikeouts in a losing effort.

Panther Vy.-N. Schuylkill

Brigid Flynn and Peyton Miscannon combined for nine strikeouts, and gave up only three hits and no walks to help North Schuylkill shut out Panther Valley 8-0 in Schuylkill League competition.

Gianna Capone went 4-for-4 with two RBIs to lead the Spartan offense, while Mallorie Croker and Olivia Jones each posted an additional two RBIs.

Isabella D’Ancona, Caroline Breslin, and Sadie Mae Frets collected the Panthers’ three hits, while Paige Goida struck out three in six innings of work.

Williams Valley put up double digits in the third inning to send Weatherly home early with a 15-0 Schuylkill League win.

The Vikings strung together four singles and three Wrecker errors as part of a 10-run third, with hits coming from Mallory Mace, Ella Kobularik and Makaya McAloose.

Kamri Koppenhaver earned a three-inning no-hitter, picking up six strikeouts and allowing just one walk.

Rylee Rath tallied six goals to lead Pleasant Valley to a convincing 17-5 victory over Allentown Central Catholic.

Rath got some help from teammates Gabby Kutzler, who put up four goals, and Peyton Knecht, who dished out four assists.

Emmaus edged Northwestern 8-7 in overtime in a non-league contest.

Grayson Christman and Tyler Kass each scored a pair of goals for Northwestern. Dane Kauker recorded 16 saves.
