Palmerton Borough Council took the following action on Thursday:
• Approved a fireworks request from the Palmerton Area Chamber of Commerce, to be held June 14, contingent upon the borough being provided with proof of proper insurance. The fireworks would be in conjunction with the Palmerton area celebrating America250.
• On a pair of 6-1 votes, accepted the tapping fee calculation report by Entech Engineering that a $9,197 fee be established for any new connection to the sewer system, as well as a resolution for fee schedule amendment for tapping/tap in fee. Councilwoman Holly Hausman Sell, who cast the lone vote in opposition of both motions, said, “I just think it’s a lot at once.”
• Approved an ordinance amending fire prevention, as well as a resolution setting the fee schedule for fire service associated with the ordinance.
