A family-owned and operated business in Lehighton continues to thrive.

Snyder Tire, at 103 E. Penn St., provides brand name tires and professional automotive services.

Jesse Snyder, president, runs the business with his wife, Erin Snyder, who serves as secretary.

Jesse Snyder said the business has 10 employees, and specializes in tires and general automotive repairs.

He said they do state inspections, oil changes, alignments, brakes, exhaust and more.

Snyder added their pricing is “significantly less than dealership prices.”

He said the bulk of the customers come from Lehighton, Jim Thorpe, Summit Hill and Palmerton.

“We get lots of positive feedback,” Snyder said. “On the quality of work, the timeliness of work and the pricing.”

Snyder noted they are a multi-time CARFAX top-rated service center.

He said the business was originally started by his parents, Bob and Liz Snyder, at the corner of Ninth and Bridge streets in the 1970s.

The business moved to its current location in 1983.

Jesse Snyder started working at the family business in 2002 and described how it has evolved over time.

“Some of the major changes were expanding in what we do,” Snyder said. “We went from only tires to (a combination of) tires and service.”

Snyder said “business is going very well.”

“There’s always going to be a need for someone to fix cars,” he said. “Cars will always need to be maintained or repaired.”

Snyder said the family-run business takes great pride in meeting the needs of its customers.

“We’re going to keep doing what we’re doing,” he said. “You always broaden your horizons to be more prepared for more complicated vehicles.”

Snyder Tire is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
