State police are searching for a Stroudsburg woman accused of using an elderly client’s debit card without permission while working as her caregiver.
Troopers at the Pennsylvania State Police Stroudsburg barracks said they are seeking the whereabouts of Shaquana Taylor, who faces charges of financial exploitation of an older adult or care-dependent person, access device fraud, identity theft and related theft offenses.
Police asked anyone with information on Taylor’s location to contact the Stroudsburg barracks at 570-619-6800.
According to police, the barracks’ criminal investigation unit began investigating in February after an 81-year-old care-dependent woman reported multiple unauthorized debit card transactions linked to Uber, DoorDash and Lyft.
Police said the victim reviewed her financial statements and identified charges of varying amounts made over a two-week period, from Feb. 2 through Feb. 14, totaling approximately $477.
The victim told investigators she had been assigned a new caregiver through Red Lion Home Care at the beginning of February and identified that caregiver as Taylor, police said.
Troopers said a search warrant was executed to obtain account information connected to the victim’s debit card. Investigators said the evidence confirmed Taylor used the victim’s debit card information to pay for her own personal services without authorization while employed as a caregiver through the agency.
Police said they recommended Red Lion Home Care notify other individuals who received care from Taylor and encourage them to review their financial records, as investigators believe additional victims may exist.
