Carbon County Community Foundation is celebrating a milestone of helping the community.

Sharon Alexander, president and CEO of the foundation, announced the event at a recent Carbon County Collaborative meeting.

“We’re celebrating 10 years this year,” she said, adding that the foundation is currently planning a celebration to mark the anniversary.

The 10-year anniversary event will be held from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. on May 29 at Blue Mountain Resort, Palmerton.

It will include a dinner, silent auction and dancing.

In addition, several community awards will be given to those who have demonstrated leadership, service and a deep commitment to making Carbon County stronger. This year’s honorees include Jessica Jones of the Lehighton Cold Weather Station, Lynn Shupp, Jim Thorpe Neighborhood Bank, Mauch Chunk Trust Company, Attorney Joseph J. Velitsky, Shepherd House Inc., St. Peter’s Community Resource Center and Hardship Heroes.

Registration for the event will open in the coming weeks.

“We’d love to see everyone there and help us celebrate,” Alexander said.
