Local roundup: Results from March 25
Clutch hits and late-inning execution carried the day for several teams Wednesday, highlighted by Derek Grim’s walk-off double for Tamaqua and Hailey Barry’s RBI single in the top of the seventh for Palmerton.
Elsewhere, the Lehighton and Palmerton boys tennis teams each recorded victories.
BASEBALL
Tamaqua-
Schuylkill Vy.
Derek Grim delivered a walk-off double in the bottom of the 13th inning to lift Tamaqua to a 6-5 victory over Schuylkill Valley in a game that resumed after being suspended March 20.
Jake Yenser, who had two hits, tied the game at 5-5 with an RBI double in the seventh inning. Yenser pitched the final 7 1/3 innings, striking out 12, walking one and allowing four hits.
Gavin Shannon, Landon Kamant and Gavan Hess each added two hits for the Blue Raiders.
Connor Huggard earned the win for Schuylkill Valley, going nine innings, allowing three hits and striking out 12.

Pleasant Valley-Liberty
Rocco Sciarra scattered eight hits and allowed one run in a complete game, as Liberty earned a 6-1 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory over Pleasant Valley.
Brogan Perreault and Christian Hackett each drove in two runs for the Hurricanes.
Chase Borger was the Bears’ lone multiple hitter, finishing with two singles.

Palmerton-Bangor
Hailey Barry’s RBI single in the top of the seventh inning lifted Palmerton to a 9-8 Colonial League victory over Bangor.
In a back-and-forth contest, the teams exchanged the lead five times over the first four innings. Palmerton’s Hailey George, who earned the win in relief, led off the seventh with a single and later scored the game-winning run on Barry’s hit.
Barry paced the Bombers with three singles, two runs scored and an RBI. Tessa Sander added two singles, a double, a walk, two runs and an RBI.
Samantha Wolfe (single, double, walk, run, three RBIs) and Grace Schneider (single, double, RBI) also contributed multiple hits.
Kelli Snow led Bangor with two singles, a double and two RBIs, while Lillian Rambo hit a two-run home run in the third inning.

Tamaqua-Pottsville
A three-run fourth inning helped Pottsville pull away for a 7-1 Schuylkill League victory over Tamaqua.
Megan Yost highlighted the fourth with a two-run single, scoring both Justine Siminitus and Izzy Kunstek, who opened the inning with back-to-back singles.
Siminitus finished with three singles and two runs scored for the Tide.
Ceanna Gormley was the lone Raider with multiple hits, recording singles in the first and sixth innings. Peyton Faust scored Tamaqua’s only run after drawing a leadoff walk in the fourth.

Jim Thorpe
Saucon Valley snapped a four-match losing streak with a 4-1 Colonial League victory over Jim Thorpe.
Jim Thorpe’s Alex Plesniarski rallied after dropping the first set in No. 3 singles, winning the next set and a super tiebreaker to secure the Olympians’ lone point. He defeated Sean Jebitsch 3-6, 7-5, 10-6.

Isaac Klein pushed No. 2 singles with a competitive effort before falling 6-3, 7-5 to Caleb Brown.
Haydon Byrnes and Preston Snyder also battled in doubles but dropped a 6-1, 6-4 decision to Joe Brisgone and Sai Uppiretta.
