Mrs. Mildred (Boyet) DeBellis, 81, of Jim Thorpe, was a third place finisher in a national shuffleboard tournament held in Hollywood, Florida.
Mrs. DeBellis, a beautician by trade in Jim Thorpe for over 50 years, competed against 36 other vacationers in the sunny state.
She returned home recently with her longtime friend, Bernice Snyder of Hauto.
The bronze medal winner maintained her business on West Broadway in Jim Thorpe until retiring last year. She initially opened the salon at 65 Broadway in the county-seat community, later relocating after the death of her husband, Fred, in 1968.
