Local Roundup: Results from March 21
The Pleasant Valley girls and boys lacrosse teams both earned wins over the weekend, while the Bears also breezed past Bangor in boys tennis action.
Palmerton’s baseball and softball teams also posted wins over Northern Lehigh.
BASEBALL
Palmerton-Northern Lehigh
Alex Keiper’s sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth inning plated two runs and helped push Palmerton past Northern Lehigh, 10-9, in a Colonial League battle.
Palmerton bolted to an 8-0 lead after three innings behind Jason Carrelli’ two-run homer, Ben Negley’s solo shot, and Gaige McGowan’s three RBIs on two hits. Brady Reph also had a run-scoring double.
But the Bulldogs used a nine-run fourth inning, highlighted by Coy Daubert’s three-run homer, to go ahead.
Luke Matsko finished with four hits for the Blue Bombers, while Braedon Dougherty collected two hits for Northern Lehigh.
Colton Becker picked up the victory with his 3 2/3 innings of relief.

No. Lehigh-Northwestern
Northwestern used a balanced offensive attack and a strong outing on the mound from Jesse Neupauer to earn an 8-2 Colonial League victory over Northern Lehigh Sunday.
The Tigers, who scored in five different innings, finished with 10 hits. Lucian Sterling and Devin Rex each collected two hits and scored once. Jake Carson added a hit and two RBIs, and Cole Dynda doubled and drove in a run.
Neupauer picked up the win, allowing two runs — both unearned — on three hits over six innings. He did not walk a batter and struck out 12. Carson worked a scoreless seventh inning in relief.
Also contributing to the victory was Mark Shafer, who scored a run and reached base three times with a hit and two walks, while Cannon Fitch added a hit and scored twice, and Brady Krimmel collected a hit and scored a run.
Northern Lehigh received hits from Avery Kabrick, Landon Cougle and Braedon Dougherty. Dougherty also drove in a run.

Marian-MMI Prep
Marian exploded for 14 runs in the first three innings, and the Colts rolled to an 18-5 non-league victory over MMI Prep.
Roman Bednarek belted a two-run homer and Chase Grier and Brayden Grant each had a two-run double.
Danny Lemus added two hits for the Colts in their season opener.

Notre Dame Green Pond erupted for 12 runs in the first inning, and the Crusaders sailed to a 17-2 Colonial League victory over Jim Thorpe.
Brody Schrantz gave the Olympians a 1-0 led in the top of the first on his RBI single. He had one of four hits for Thorpe.
Connor Albert knocked in four runs for Notre Dame, and Colin Pervous and Austin Casal each added three RBIs.

Northern Lehigh-Palmerton
Kyla Trumbore had a two-run single in the top of the first that helped Palmerton to a 3-0 Colonial League victory over Northern Lehigh.
The Blue Bombers added an insurance run in the sixth to support starter Hailey George, who allowed just two hits over six innings with eight strikeouts and six walks. Samantha Wolfe closed out the seventh.
Northern Lehigh starter Addison Smith went the distance, allowing three hits with five strikeouts and three walks. Emily Gad had two hits and two stolen bases for the Bulldogs.

Rylee Rath pumped in five goals, and Brielle Halamar netted four to lead Pleasant Valley to a 17-4 rout of Danville in non-league play.
Peyton Knecht and Sam Miller each tallied three goals, as the Bears staked themselves to a 9-1 halftime advantage.

Chris Ward’s seven-goal performance helped put Pleasant Valley over the top in a 13-9 non-conference win over Danville.
Ward also chipped in with two assists for the Bears, while Cam Ward and Christofer Tittle both chipped in with two goals apiece.
PV’s Steven Walter also registered three assists.

The Bears also received a win at No. 3 singles from Liam Angell.

Parkland-Pleasant Valley
Parkland registered an EPC sweep of Pleasant Valley in track & field action on Friday.
The Trojan boys nearly swept all the running events to claim a 123-27 victory, while the Parkland girls took first in every event but one to capture a 128-22 win.
Collin O’Neill (shot put), Nicholas Bruckman (discus) amd Andrew Schmids (javelin) all posted firsts in the throws for the Bears in the boys meet.
The PV girls’ only winner was Ava Oviedo in the triple jump.
