A Monroe County teen is charged with assaulting his ex-girlfriend during a confrontation at her Jackson Township home.
According to court documents, Thomas Feron, 17, of Tobyhanna, who is being charged as an adult in the case, went to the girl’s home in the 2300 block of Route 715 on March 11 and called her outside to talk about their relationship.
The girl told police Feron asked to look through her cellphone. When she refused and ran toward the house, Feron followed her inside after forcing the front door open. She fled to her bedroom, but Feron chased her while carrying a handgun.
Inside the room, she said Feron grabbed her from behind and placed her in a chokehold that restricted her breathing. She told police he then pressed the gun to the back of her head and made threats.
As she struggled to get free and reach her phone and tablet to call 911, Feron smashed both devices, according to the report.
The girl eventually broke free and ran to a neighbor’s home to call police. Feron fled in a 2015 silver Subaru.
Feron faces charges including aggravated assault, burglary, strangulation, simple assault, criminal mischief, criminal trespass, reckless endangerment, terroristic threats and disorderly conduct.
He is Monroe County Correctional Facility, unable to post $100,000 monetary bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 15 before District Judge Daniel Kresge in Bartonsville.
