Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on March 5 with 21 members present.

President Jean Machamer opened the meeting with the invocation, “Touch Me Lord,” read by a member.

Two members were added to the sick list. A member is celebrating a March birthday.

Refreshments, snacks and drinks were provided, and Machamer thanked a member for donating dessert.

After April 5, the group will have food provided by its president. The meeting closed and bingo was played. There will be brown bag lunches until April 9.

The seniors meet at 1 p.m. Thursdays at the Coaldale Complex.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Zion Church in Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.

“The Chosen” will be shown at 2 p.m. Sunday in Memorial Hall.

St. Peter’s — West Penn

The Sunday worship service at St. Peter’s Church in West Penn is at 9 a.m. followed by adult Sunday school at 10:15 a.m.

WASP meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The midweek Lenten service will be held at 7 p.m. at St. Peter’s. At 6 p.m. March 19, the Cherub Choir meets.

Rush-Ryan-Delano Seniors

The Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens met on March 10 with 27 members present.

President Robert Neifert opened the meeting with the invocation, “His Promise,” recited by a member.

A member was added to the sick list and a moment of silence was held for one member.

A member won lottery tickets and a gift card that were chanced off. The group is now accepting dues.

Plans are underway for an anniversary dinner and picnic in June.

Drinks were provided and the meeting closed. Bingo was played.

The group wishes all a happy St. Patrick’s Day. The next meeting will be held at 1 p.m. March 24 at Christ Church in Barnesville.

Calvary Lewistown

Pastor Deb will deliver a message of “Another Chance” at the 11 a.m. Sunday worship service at Calvary Evangelical Church in Lewistown. Her children’s sermon will be “Growing God’s Fruit.” A video on the Jewel Ministry will be shown, and special music will be included. Sunday school is at 9:45 a.m. There will be no Sunday evening service.

The Wednesday Lenten service will begin with a 7:15 p.m. hymn sing with the service to follow at 7:30 p.m. at the Congregational Free Church of Christ in McKeansburg.

On March 29, Erica Murphy will be the guest worship leader at the 11 a.m. service.

Craft/Vendor Fair

A craft and vendor fair, basket raffle and 50/50 will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 14 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 200 E. Mauch Chunk St., Tamaqua. There will be a food and bake sale. Take outs are available. Prizes include a 75-inch big screen television, $100 lottery board and others. A variety of baskets and gift cards will be among the prizes.

Fundraiser

A fundraiser for St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church will be held from 11 a.m. to closing at Joe’s Pizza, Route 309, Tamaqua, in the shopping plaza near the former Stoves N’ Stuff on March 18. A percentage of the proceeds from orders will be donated to the Tamaqua church.
