Ross remembers late secretary, residents

Ross Township’s supervisors meeting began Monday with a solemn moment honoring the contributions and memories of long-standing residents who recently passed away.

Following the Pledge of Allegiance, Chairman Dave Shay called for a moment of silence in remembrance of Doris Price, who served as the township’s secretary for 27 years, as well as George Washburn.

Rick Fatzinger was also mourned during the moment.

“They were all very instrumental in the township,” Shay said.

Price served as township secretary and treasurer for years.

She promoted local recreation and preservation through the West End Open Space and Park Commission and helped create endowment funds for West End Regional Park.

Price also organized the David Fleetwood 5K Memorial Race, funding scholarships for local students.

She passed away on Feb. 14.

Also remembered was Washburn, a longtime Saylorsburg resident who passed away in November 2025.

He was well known in the community as the owner of Washburn Lawn Service, which maintained local properties for years before his retirement in 2022.

Fatzinger, a Saylorsburg resident and U.S. Marine Corps veteran, passed away in February.

He was well known in the local business community as the owner and operator of Corporate Protective Services LLC, a private security firm.

Fatzinger was an avid outdoorsman known for his dedication to Ross Township.
