Nesquehoning police are gearing up for a fun night of sports with the children of the area.
Police Chief Brad Hess said Wednesday during borough council’s monthly meeting that they are ready for the Sports Night with Nesquehoning police at Narrow Valley Sportsplex on Friday. This is the second year the department has partnered with the business to hold the event.
“Last year we had a lot of kids,” he said, adding that he hopes they have a great turnout again. “It’s a good night for the kids ... something to in the winter time so we look forward to seeing everybody.”
The event takes place from 5- 7 p.m. and is open to children ages 4-17. It will feature a variety of sports, including basketball, baseball, soccer, pickleball, volleyball and dodgeball.
There also will be giveaways, raffles and other fun activities.
Last year, the department and Sportsplex teamed up and opened the facility to a night of sports-related fun and community team-building so youngsters could get to know the officers who patrol the borough.
Registration for the event is recommended. To register, go to www.narrowvalleysports.com or call 570-273-5555.
