Carbon County Commissioners

The Carbon County commissioners acted on or discussed the following items during their meeting last week:

• Approved a correction to the minutes changing an estimate for an agreement with INFOCON Corp. and the county tax claim bureau should be $5,800.

• Approved the contract for sewage removal and disposal services at Mauch Chunk Lake Park and Carbon County Environmental Education Center to All State Septic Systems LLP, the sole bidder for the service and the current contract holder.

• Appointed Ashley Strohl, human resources manager of AMPAL, to the Pocono Counties Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Development Board for a three-year term, ending Feb. 19, 2029.

• Ratified the purchase of a 2019 Ford Police Interceptor Utility all-wheel drive vehicle from Enterprise Fleet Management, which was part of the county’s leased vehicle fleet, at a total cost of $646.04.

• Approved a quote from Schindler Elevator Corp. of Allentown for a Siemens Soft Starter Upgrade for the 76 Susquehanna St. building elevator at a total cost of $7,449.

• Approved a Juvenile Probation Services Program grant with the state for salary reimbursements of the county juvenile court office in the amount of $69,300.

• Ratified a cooperation agreement between the county and American Legion Post 314, Lehighton, through the Local Share Account Monroe County grant for $73,581 to partially fund the reconstruction of the Legion parking lot.

• Approved an agreement with Lehighton Borough for leasing the portion of the recreation center in Lehighton that is used as the Lehighton Senior Center. The agreement is $1,045 per month for 2026; $1,092 per month for 2027; and $1,141 per month for 2028 with an optional two additional one-year terms with a 4.5% increase annually.

• Approved a revised proposal with Baker Tilly of Pittston to perform Area Agency on Aging auditing services for 2024 and 2025.

• Ratified a proclamation acknowledging Feb. 8-14 as FBLA Week in Carbon County.
