Slatington reports on police, fire calls

Slatington Borough Council heard reports this month about police and fire department activities.

Mayor Jeralyn Schoch reported for police.

“There were 317 calls for January and 55 parking tickets. The renovation for our station is going well,” Schoch said.

“We are waiting on quotes for new wiring for electricity to be put in. The ALS grant for a new police vehicle was denied,” she said.

Police Chief William Borst was not in attendance.

Schoch added, “I feel like we need more support from our local representatives. I will reach out to them about phoning in support of our grants, not just letters and emails.”

She suggested the borough could have an email set up on our website for residents.

“They could reach out to our representatives for help with our grants for more support.”

Borough Manager Roy Hambrecht said, “We can do that.”

Fire Chief Justin Frable reported, “We had 22 calls for the month of January. Our station was manned for 24 hours during the snowstorm.”

He said the new fire truck chassis will be transferred from Michigan to Nesquehoning, to Bulldog Fire Apparatus, where the remainder of the work will be completed.

“We anticipate a late fall delivery,” he said.
