The Jim Thorpe Borough Council met in a special session Thursday night and elected another full-time officer to its police force.
Edward Lewis, a resident of 131 South Street, Jim Thorpe, was the unanimous choice of the solons, having been nominated for the position by David Rimsky, Police Committee chairman, and David Newton, former chairman of that unit.
Lewis will serve on a part-time salary basis until the borough signs a new contract with members of the police department. They are currently working without a contract, although negotiations for a new pact are underway.
