Banks Township is going to have a planning commission.
Monday night, the township supervisors voted to enter into an agreement with the Slusser Law Firm to be the solicitor for the new planning commission.
Also, the supervisors appointed three members to the planning commission – Tom Yesilonois, George Donadi and Jeff Payne.
The planning commission will review any projects that come before the township – like the data center that is anticipated – and either recommend or reject it.
On the subject of the data center, Karen Jacoby of Junedale said there is a mine underneath her home, and any change in the water table could cause a subsidence that would damage her home.
“They (developers of the data center) have been very vague about how much water they will use,” Jacoby said. “I had a subsidence in my yard.”
Since the developer has not submitted a proposal, it is not known how much water the proposed facility will use.
