State police at Bethlehem - crashes

State police at the Bethlehem barracks reported the following crashes:

• Mariia Ushakova, 31, of Brooklyn, New York, and a baby boy under age 1, of Parryville, were transported by personnel from the Northampton Regional EMS corps to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg Campus, Bethlehem, following a two-vehicle crash at 12:48 p.m. Jan. 20 at the intersection of North Irving and North Dauphin streets in Hanover Township.

Police said Ushakova had suspected minor injuries, while it is unknown if the infant, who was in a child safety seat, was hurt.

They were passengers, police said, in a 2011 Volkswagen Tiguan driven by Nikita Dudenkov, 32, of Parryville, who was northbound on North Irving Street and beginning a turn to merge onto North Dauphin Street.

Police said Dudenkov was lawfully yielding to northbound traffic on North Dauphin Street when the Tiguan was struck from behind by a 2010 Honda Pilot operated by Etienne Theagene, 48, of Whitehall. Both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene.

Theagene was cited for following too closely, according to police.

• Matthew R. Hicks, 35, of Whitehall, and Bret A. Ewing, 65, of Coplay, had suspected minor injuries after a two-vehicle crash at 4:29 p.m. Feb. 4 on Mauch Chunk Road, North Whitehall Township.

Police said they refused transports to an area hospital by personnel from the Northern Valley Ambulance.

The crash occurred, police said, when Hicks was driving a 2013 Honda Civic and Ewing was operating a 2016 Ford Escape.

They said Hicks was making a left turn and Ewing was making a right turn. The Escape entered the roadway and was struck by the Civic, police said.

Both drivers were cited after the crash, according to police.
