February 9, 1996 — Tamaqua’s Nicci Schock sets a new Schuylkill diving meet record to capture the girls title at the Schuylkill League diving championships at Pottsville’s D.H.H. Lengel Middle School pool. Schock registers a score of 241.20 for her dives to win the crown ahead of second-place finisher Ashley Frey of Blue Mountain. In the boys event, Jason Golumbfskie of Shamokin earns first with a score of 162.50 with Brian Fetterolf of North Schuylkill ending in second.
