Chestnuthill Township approves fuel storage, access
The West End Fire Company and Chestnuthill Township approved a fuel storage and access agreement at the February board of supervisors meeting.
There is a 1,600 gallon diesel generator fuel tank in the Emergency Services Facility. The agreement allows fire trucks to use a portion of the fuel to refill their tanks after an emergency call. If the township has an emergency, it also can have access to the fuel.
The fire company will have 600 gallons of fuel available while still maintaining three to four weeks of generator run time for the township needs. Allowing the fuel draw from the fire company will help prevent algae growth and maintain healthy fuel circulation in the tank.
The fire company will be responsible for installing the fuel pump purchased by the township at a cost of $1,400, and running wire and a conduit to the unit. A fence will be modified for gate access to the pump.
Fuel will be purchased by the township through its current supplier, which is $1 per gallon cheaper than the gas station. There will be a fuel logging spreadsheet maintained by the fire company.
In other business, two township trucks were sold on Municibid. A 1997 GMC sold for $1,735, while a 2000 GMC sold for $2,700.

A 2026 Peterbilt tandem truck was authorized for purchase at a cost of $275,195. It also had been budgeted for 2026 for up to $278,000.
Pleasant Valley Assembly of God Land Development Plan was tabled, but had some movement. Three waivers that were recommended for approval by the Chestnuthill Township Planning Commission in 2017 were approved. Additional information about sewage and the maintenance agreement will be updated at the March supervisors meeting.
