State police at Bethlehem - crashes
State police at the Bethlehem barracks reported the following crashes:
• Anthony Martinez Ortiz, 29, of Slatington, and Sheyliana Narvaez Diaz, 26, of Allentown, were injured in a four-vehicle, chain-reaction crash at 6:22 a.m. Jan. 14 on Route 22 in Whitehall.
Police said Martinez was transported by personnel from the Cetronia Ambulance Corps to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest Campus, Salisbury Township.
Narvaez Diaz, who was a passenger with Martinez Ortiz, was also taken there by the same corps for treatment. Police said the severity of her injuries are unknown, police said.
They said the crash occurred when Martinez Ortiz was driving a 2020 Mitsubishi eastbound and was following a 2017 Honda HRV operated by Kilsis P. Perez Pena, 35, of Allentown, striking its back because of traffic congestion. After the initial impact, the Mitsubishi “rear-ended” a 2016 Chevrolet Sonic driven by Kristin R. Mankos, 40, of Allentown, pushing it sideways, police said.
Police said Sonic then hit a 2024 Volvo operated by Bakhtiyor Kakhkhorov, 35, of Brooklyn, New York.
The Honda, Mitsubishi and Sonic were towed from the scene.
Police said Martinez Ortiz was cited for following too closely.
• Michael G. Wotring, 69, of Schnecksville, was cited for after a two-vehicle crash at 2:45 p.m. Jan. 13 at the intersection of Glencrest Road and Route 873 in Washington Township. No one was injured in the incident.
Police said the crash occurred when Wotring was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Malibu that failed to yield the right of way and struck the left rear side of a 2010 Subaru Legacy driven by Jennifer A. King, 48, of Slatington, as she was southbound on Route 873.
The Legacy was towed from the scene.
• Police said Anthony Dougherty, 40, of Slatington, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after a two-vehicle crash at 12:26 a.m. Dec. 23 at the intersection of Clearview and Old Post roads in North Whitehall Township.
Police said he was driving a 2015 Ford Escape that was involved in the crash with a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu operated by a 60-year-old Allentown man.
They did not provide any further details of the crash.
• Eric D. Segarra, 38, of Bethlehem, was cited after a one-vehicle crash at 1:09 p.m. Jan. 18 on Newside Road, Heidelberg Township. No one was injured in the incident.
Police said the crash occurred as he was driving a 2024 Ram 3500 truck northbound when it lost traction due to road conditions, sliding off the roadway and hitting a utility pole.
• Connor J. Blawn, 24, of New Tripoli, had “possibly injuries” after a one-vehicle crash at 3:48 a.m. Jan. 19 on Brook Street in North Whitehall Township.
Police said he refused a medical services transport from the scene.
They said he was driving a 2011 Honda Pilot southbound when he lost control of it in snowy conditions. The vehicle left the road and hit a utility pole. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
Police said Blawn sustained a minor head injury.
He was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed, police said.
• Brian C. Riggins, 22, of New Tripoli, was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed after a one-vehicle crash at 10:19 p.m. Jan. 19 on Route 309 in Heidelberg Township.
Police said he was driving a 2018 Ford Focus eastbound when he lost control of it. The car left the roadway and hit a utility pole. The car was towed from the scene.
• Makail J. Crawford, 27, of Philadelphia, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance after a one-vehicle crash at 9:46 p.m. Jan. 20 on Route 309 in Heidelberg Township. He was uninjured in the incident.
Police said he was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze southbound when he lost control on a right curve in the roadway. The car exited the road and hit a utility pole before continuing into a snow-covered field.
The pole was snapped in half and landed across the roadway, bringing down wires, police said. The road was closed for an extended period of time.
