Local Roundup: Results from Feb. 4
The Lehighton and Palmerton girls wrestling teams both secured victories on Wednesday night. Elsewhere, the Panther Valley girls basketball team closed out its season with a comeback victory.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
PM West-Panther Vy.
Morgan Orsulak scored a game-high 25 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to help rally Panther Valley to a 55-49 victory over Pocono Mountain West in the regular-season finale for both teams.
Trailing 42-35 entering the fourth quarter, Orsulak scored eight points and Ajete Gjoca added seven of her 10 in the final period as the Panthers outscored PM West 20-7 over the final eight minutes.
Jodi Bowen led Pocono Mountain West with 13 points.

Palmerton recorded five forfeits and a pin to earn a 40-6 non-league victory over Tamaqua.
Makenna Ringler (106), Lea Schaible (136), Nickayla Tomsic (142), Kyleigh Jennings (170) and Nicole Jennings (235) all won by forfeit, while Cassidy Merkel (124) earned a fall. Kiely Kunkel (118) scored Tamaqua’s lone win with a pin.

Weatherly used balanced scoring and strong defense to roll past Schuylkill Haven 37-6. Mackenzie Graham led the Wreckers with 10 points, while Mikayla Kuntz added seven and Riley Bachert chipped in six. Isla Reber paced Schuylkill Haven with three points.

Tamaqua-Weatherly
Tamaqua pulled away late to defeat Weatherly 35-28. Silas Zink scored 14 points, and MJ Ryan added nine for the Wreckers. Chayse Barron led Tamaqua with 17 points, while Tanner Tirpak finished with nine.
8th Grade
Tamaqua-Weatherly
Tamaqua completed the sweep with a 39-23 win over Weatherly in the eighth-grade contest. Carter Minnick led Weatherly with 10 points, and Zink added seven. Barron again paced Tamaqua with 16 points, while Chayse Smith contributed 10.
