January 29, 1997 — Jim Thorpe rallies from a double-digit deficit to pull out a 54-51 Schuylkill League victory over visiting Weatherly. The Olympians, coached by Jim Corpora, trail by 14 points late in the third quarter before starting their comeback. Baskets by Casey Hydro, Jake Herman and Frank Miller allow Thorpe to cut the gap to eight points heading into the fourth frame. The winners go on an 18-2 run, with Jared Albert tallying eight of those points and Herman hitting for six. Albert’s jumper with 1:32 put the Olympians ahead for good. Herman ends with a game-high 29 points, while Albert contributes 11. The Wreckers receive a team-high 16 points from Josh Tom.
