Reward offered in Farber disappearance, death case
A $5,000 reward is being offered for information that helps solve the case behind a Tamaqua man who went missing for more than a decade.
While remains of Jesse Farber were found this past summer, the Pennsylvania State Police recently announced the reward through its PSP Tips program.
State police’s Troop L in Frackville is continuing its investigation into Farber’s Aug. 11, 2015, disappearance.
“This case remains an active investigation,” according to PSP Tips.
Farber, 29, was last seen walking on the “S-curves” to Tamaqua from the New England Valley in Walker Township. He called Rachel Carroll, the mother of his children, and told her that he was being chased by coyotes, and noted that he was on Sharp Mountain behind the Tamaqua Area High School.
His phone then died, and he was never heard from again.
Family, friends and law enforcement never gave up hope of finding Farber, with organized searches in the weeks, months and years following his disappearance.
On July 13, 2025, all-terrain vehicle riders discovered a skull in Walker Township. Police returned to the area three more times, finding more remains during their visits.
Lab analysis confirmed the remains were those of Farber.
