Lehighton and Weatherly both posted wins in boys and girls basketball action on Saturday.

The Indians swept Tamaqua, while the Wrecker teams downed MMI.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Lehighton-Tamaqua

Lehighton jumped out to a huge lead and rolled to a 67-22 non-league victory over host Tamaqua.

Cole Dietz scored 12 of his game-high 22 points in the first half as the Indians grabbed a 24-point advantage at the break.

Aiden Solt added 12 points — all on three-pointers — and Blake Roberts contributed 11 to the Lehighton cause.

Jakin Tamagini’s five points led the Raiders.

Weatherly clinched a district playoff berth with a 72-46 non-conference victory over MMI Prep.

Five different Wreckers reached double-figure scoring to aid the win.

Niko Saldukas and Corbin Wagner tied for game-high honors as both tallied 16 points. Ian McKeegan added 14, while Dominik Kokinda finished with 11 and Brandon Davis chipped in with 10.

MMI received a team-high 14 points from Ben Gombida.

Leah Uyvari scored a game-high 20 points to lead Lehighton to a 51-40 non-league victory over Tamaqua.

The Indians, who also received nine points from Brielle Parliman, took control of the game with a 16-point third quarter after they held a 25-21 halftime lead.

Lauren Ligenza paced Tamaqua with a double-double, scoring 17 points and collecting 10 rebounds. Leah Blackalso pulled down 10 boards.

Anna Drobnock paced MMI with nine points.

Felicia Bro and Ella Connolly did the most damage for the Golden Bears, combining for 44 of their team’s points as each player finished with 22.

The Olympians received a 15-point effort from Olivia Snisky.
