Lehigh Township gets new police chief and officer
Lehigh Township’s board of supervisors meeting was a full house Tuesday night to witness the swearing-in of Chief John Henry and Officer Jarett Honea.
Lehigh Township and Walnutport police officers also were in attendance.
Lehigh Township Chief John Henry lll was sworn in by Magistrate Robert Hawke with Henry’s sons, Gabriel and Evan, looking on.
“We feel he really deserves this. Our dad has done a lot of hard work for the department. We are proud of him,” his sons said.
Henry is a 26-year veteran of the Lehigh Township Police Department.
Officer Jarett Honea with his wife, Klarissa, also was sworn in by Magistrate Hawke.
Honea said, “I’m glad to be a part of Lehigh Township.”
Officer Honea came to the township right out of the academy and will undergo Lehigh Township’s comprehensive field training program prior to patrolling the township. This structured program is designed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge acquired at the police academy and practical application in the field, pairing the rookie officer with seasoned veterans to ensure a seamless transition.
