Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on Jan. 8 with 26 members present.

Four members were added to the sick list, and a member is celebrating a birthday this month.

The group noted that if there is bad weather and Tamaqua and Panther Valley area school districts close for the day, the seniors will not meet.

The group meets at 1 p.m. Thursdays at the Coaldale Complex, weather permitting. Anyone 55 and older is invited.

Calvary Lewistown

Pastor Debra Rogers will present the biblical message at the 11 a.m. Sunday service at Calvary Evangelical Church in Lewistown. The service will include praise, worship, sharing and a special music presentation. All are welcome. Sunday school is at 9:45 a.m. There will be no Sunday evening service.

The Prayer and Care for all ages will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

St. John Lutheran fundraiser

A fundraiser for St. John Lutheran Church of Tamaqua will be held at Two Kings Restaurant, Route 309, Hometown, from 11 a.m. to closing on Sunday. Mention St. John Lutheran when placing your order and a percentage of proceeds will go to the church.

St. Peter’s — West Penn

The Sunday worship service at St. Peter’s Church in West Penn is at 9 a.m., followed by Adult Sunday School at 10:15 a.m. Organizational reports are due in the office Sunday.

WASP will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, and on Jan. 22, the Cherub Choir meets at 6 p.m., followed by the Adult Choir at 7 p.m.

Zion — Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Zion Church in Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m. “The Chosen” will be shown at 2 p.m. Sunday at the social hall.
