The Monroe County commissioners selected a company to drill a new well at the Monroe County Correctional Facility.

Last week the commissioners approved hiring Negley’s Water and Well Drilling LLC of Greencastle to do the job. Negley’s was the only company to submit a bid.

Negley’s base bid amount was $109,836.26, which is $189 per linear foot for 14-inch casing. The total bid amount was $110,025.26.

Robert Gress, the chief clerk, said in December that the commissioners had received a bid the first time the project was put on Pennbid, but the bid was incomplete. It was rejected at the commissioners’ Dec. 17 meeting.

The project was then resubmitted, and the commissioners received this bid from Negley’s.
