Tamaqua woman charged after police called to disturbance
Tamaqua police charged Keyshawna Housman, 28, Tamaqua, with simple assault, disorderly conduct, harassment and public drunkenness after she allegedly fought with two residents of her apartment building on Jan. 6.
Police said they were called to the unit block of Mauch Chunk Street for a disturbance and saw two people holding Housman down inside the building.
The two released Housman when police arrived and Housman told them that she was having issues with everyone in the apartment building because they talk about her.
Housman told police that when she arrived home, she had enough and confronted a male resident who was doing laundry in the hallway. She told police that she attacked him and punched him multiple times.
A female resident heard the commotion and tried to de-escalate the issue. Police noted that Housman smelled of alcohol.
Officers suggested that Housman report the issue to her landlord, and as she returned to the apartment building, she began screaming at the man and woman. Police told her to stop but she continued, so officers took her into custody following a short struggle.
Officers said Housman threatened to beat the other two residents, and said they talk about her because she is Black. She was taken by ambulance to St. Luke’s Miners Campus in Coaldale.
Police said the man had a cut on his hand from Housman biting him. The woman had red marks on her chest and arm.
The man said Housman began yelling at him for no reason. He said he hadn’t talked to her in months and did not have any issue with her but she pushed, slapped, kicked and bit him.
The woman said she saw Housman hitting the man so she tried to break it up. The two held her down until police arrived.
Both sought medical evaluations, police said.
