Lehighton Borough Council
Lehighton Borough Council took the following action on Monday:
• Tabled discussion on the fire department pumper truck replacement.
• Set the rate of contribution of the police pension plan for 2026 at 3%.
• On a 6-1 measure, adopted a resolution setting the reappointments, with the exception of Strubinger Law for zoning hearing board solicitor, which will be approved by the zoning hearing board at a later date. Councilman Joe Flickinger was opposed.
• Appointed Jeremy Smith for the lineman helper position.
• Appointed Levi Stern for the maintenance operator position.
• Awarded a contract to Home Comfort Solutions in the amount of $16,500 for a hot water heater for the fire department.
• Agreed to purchase accounting and time-tracking software from Intuit Quickbooks for accounting, $7,350 (an annual charge for that software in their application); iSolved for payroll processing, $5,688 (a $4,788 recurring annual charge); and contracting with Diana Patton of Numbers Made Easy Consulting to help with the transition into the new software systems, $4,250 (a one-time fee).
• Adopted an ordinance for the vacation of Queen Alley.
• Tabled a request for the Krampusnacht application for use of property from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Dec. 5.
• Approved St. Luke’s Hospice Charity Bike Ride application for use of property May 30.
• Approved Plant Fest application for use of property from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. June 27.
