Both the Northwestern boys and girls basketball teams clinched district playoff berths with wins on Thursday.

Both Tiger teams posted victories over Pen Argyl.

Northern Lehigh’s two teams also were successful, defeating Moravian Academy.

Northern Lehigh snapped a four-game losing streak with a 59-41 Colonial League victory over host Moravian Academy.

The Bulldogs actually trailed by a point at the half, as the Lions were trying to pick up their first win of the season, but a 32-13 second half by Nolehi proved to be the difference.

Kellen Bauer scored nine of his 20 points during the final two quarters, while Colin Karetsky and Michael Bauer each netted six in the frame.

Northwestern raced out to an early lead and maintained the advantage en route to a 72-43 Colonial League victory.

Mason Bollinger recorded a team-high 18 points for the Tigers, who led 25-9 after the first quarter. Brady Zimmerman finished with 15 points for the winners, while Malachi Coleman added 14.

Northwestern clinched a district playoff berth, guaranteeing itself of a .500 record in the league.

Mason Soos and Kaen Kaiser each scored 13 points pace the Green Knights.

Palmerton nearly gained a Colonial League upset of Wilson, however the Warriors used a big fourth quarter to escape with a 72-60 win.

The Blue Bombers led by four points entering the final frame but Lafayette Acree scored 10 of his game-high 33 points during the last eight minutes as the visitors rallied for the victory.

Wilson’s Andrew Powell added 14 points.

For Palmerton, Cam Pengelly poured in a team-high 21 points, while Gaige McGowan chipped in with 11.

Jake Tom and Greg Tirpak both helped lead Marian to a 46-37 win over Shenandoah Valley 46-37 in Schuylkill League action.

Tom hit for 15 points, while Tirpak netted 13.

The Colts outscored the Blue Devils 15-7 in the first quarter and never relinquished the lead, holding Shenandoah to only four points in the third.

Izayah Lopez led the Devils in scoring with 18 points.

Gavin Edmonds scored 19 points for the Blue Raiders, who put up 36 points in the second half to help snap a four-game losing skid. Terrence McDowell added 12 points for the winners.

For the Spartans, Julian Nelson finished with a team-high 19 points.

Weatherly held a halftime lead, but visiting Williams Valley rallied in the second half for a 57-53 Schuylkill League victory.

The Wreckers were up by nine points at the break, but the Vikings used a 21-10 third quarter to go ahead.

Gabe Rodriguez led the charge for Williams Valley in the third with eight points — including two threes — while Evan Achenbach finished with a game-high 21.

The Wreckers had four players end with double-digit scoring, with Niko Saldukas leading the way with 15. Ian McKeegan tallied 12, while Dominick Kodinda and Corbin Wager each netted 10.

Ryder Bowers tallied a game-high 17 points for Pottsville, which has won seven of its last eight games.

PV received a team-high 13 points from Darian Revell.

Ava Serfass posted seven of her game-high 12 points in the opening quarter, as the Indians built a comfortable 15-5 lead. It also marked a season-high for Serfass.

Lehighton’s Ryleigh Trotman added 10 points, while Aryanna Arzuaga and Olivia Serfass both chipped in with eight.

The Bulldogs’ Tegan Simms poured in a game-high 27 points over a span of two quarters – 15 in the second and 12 in the third. Simms, who is nine points shy of 1,000 in her career, finished with a season high.

Jaylene Ramos posted all 10 of her points during Nolehi’s 25-point second quarter.

Leah Wentz added eight points to the winning cause.

The Tigers’ Natalie Conner drained three three-pointers during the second quarter, as she finished with 11 of her game-high 20 points in the period.

Mallory Conner chipped in with 10 points in the second, as the Tigers guaranteed themselves of an overall .500 record.

Palmerton lost a lead in regulation but came back in overtime to gain a narrow 56-54 Colonial League victory over host Wilson.

The Blue Bombers held a six-point advantage entering the final period, but the Warriors rallied to tie the contest.

In the extra session, Cate Morgan scored four points, two of them from the free throw line. Morgan ended with a team-high 20 points.

Hailey Barry hit for 12 points to aid the Palmerton cause.

The Warriors’ Juliana Bonham, whose three-point attempt as time expired fell short, led all scorers with 23 points.

Solehi’s Rowan Adams led all scorers with 21 points, while teammate Sam Fontanez tallied 17.

Two Olympians finished in double figures — Brooklynn Yuhas with 13 and Olivia Snisky with 12.

Kailey Evans registered a 38-second fall at 190 pounds for the Indians, while teammate Blayr Strawser posted a pin in 1:07 at 130.

Tamaqua-Mahanoy Area

Tamaqua swept host Mahanoy Area in Schuylkill League action.

The Blue Raider girls nearly doubled up their opponent, posting a 95-49 victory, while the boys posted a 54-18 win in a meet featuring limited events.

Savannah Wilson and Shaylee Gormley both captured a pair of individual events while also participating in two relay wins. Wilson took the 100 breaststroke and 100 butterfly, and Gormley touched first in the 50 and 100 freestyle.

Others to post wins included Janna Brown (200 free), Kate Behun (500 free) and Audrey Nattress (100 backstroke).

In the boys competition, the Raiders’ William Behun picked up a victory in the 50 free, while Ben Hunsicker captured the 100 free. Both also aided a pair of winning relay teams.

Blue Mountain-Marian

Marian’s Lydia Strucko set a new pool record in the 100 backstroke at Blue Mountain, but the Eagles ended up with a Schuylkill League sweep.

The Blue Mountain girls gained a 122-34 win, while its boys earned a 129-24 victory.

Strucko broke her own mark by posting a time of 58.21. Her old record of 59.32 she set on Dec. 3, 2024. She also won the 200 IM.

Michael Strucko also picked up a pair of wins in the boys meet, taking both the 50 and 100 freestyle.
