Pleasant Valley had three wrestlers win titles at the Frank Wadas Wrestling Tournament on Tuesday.

BOYS WRESTLING

Frank Wadas Tournament

Pleasant Valley crowned three champions at the Frank Wadas Wrestling Tournament, held at Tunkhannock High School.

Adis Vukel captured the 189-pound title by registering a pin over Tunkhannock’s James Williams in 3:35. The Bears’ Evan Gillespie also posted a fall in the championship round, claiming first at 215 with a quick 17-second pin against Jayden Benscoter of Dallas.

PV’s Shawn Radcliffe also earned the top spot on the podium at 121 by winning a 10-1 major decision against Braylon Alicea of East Stroudsburg North.

Jimmy Stipeck (127) and James Cordle (160) both finished fourth in their weight classes, while Patrick Decker was fifth at 152.

Governor Mifflin Holiday

Palmerton’s Connor Messinger registered a technical fall over Governor Mifflin’s Cameron Muessig in their third-place bout at 127 pounds.

Messinger was one of five Bombers to place at the tournament.

Thomas Pasquariello won his fifth-place match against Governor Mifflins’ Wyatt Rey with an 8-1 decision at 114.

Other Bombers to reach the podium included Anderson Garcia (sixth, at 215), Jaxs Miller (seventh, at 133) and Antonio Oller (eighth, at 172).

BOYS BASKETBALL

Schuylkill Haven-Tamaqua

Tamaqua hung tough with Schuylkill Haven in the first half, but a big third quarter allowed the Hurricanes to take charge and gain a 72-55 non-league victory.

Alan Evans scored a game-high 21 points for the winners, who extended a three-point halftime lead by outscoring the Raiders 20-7 in the third.

Tamaqua received 19 points from Gavin Edmonds, while Brady McCabe added 13. Terrence McDowell chipped in with 10.

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN

Northwestern-Delaware CC

Four Delaware County Christian players scored in double figures to help earn a 67-62 victory over Northwestern in the consolation game of the Zephyr Holiday Classic.

Bradford Berwick scored 19 points to lead the Knights, who hit nine three-pointers in the contest.

The Tigers received a game-high 20 points from Mason Bollinger, while Brady Zimmerman netted 19 and was named to the All-Tournament team. Brady Krimmel chipped in with 10 points.

Palmerton-Nazareth

Nazareth rolled to a 48-19 victory over Palmerton to capture the Stacy Perryman Holiday Classic championship.

Alexa Davis poured in a game-high 17 points for the Eagles to earn the tournament’s MVP award. Karly Leszcynski added nine for Nazareth, which led by 14 points at halftime.

The Bombers’ Kate Morgan finished with a team-high seven points.

Lourdes remained unbeaten in Schuylkill League action, as the Red Raiders cruised to a 51-18 victory over Marian.

Kylla Sandri helped Lourdes jump out early, scoring five of her game-high 13 points in the opening quarter.

The Fillies were led by Addy Marek, who tallied 12 points.
