One person was seriously injured Tuesday night in a crash in the village of Tuscarora, Schuylkill Township. The incident occurred around 10 p.m. when the driver was traveling west on old Route 209 just before the intersection with Catawissa Road. The car crossed the road and hit a utility pole.
Rescue units from Tamaqua and Yorkville of Pottsville were dispatched to the scene. Tuscarora and Ryan township fire companies assisted at the scene helping with the extrication of the driver. The victim was flown from the scene by LifeFlight 6 to the Geisinger Trauma center in Danville. Area fire police maintained traffic control at the scene shutting down Route 209 and surrounding roadways.
State police at Frackville along with a forensic unit are investigating the incident.
