Man injured in Franklin Twp. blaze
A man suffered injuries in a single home fire early Tuesday evening in Franklin Township.
Township fire Chief Lynn Diehl said firefighters were dispatched after 5 p.m. to a single home at 146 Church St.
Diehl said firefighters were told by dispatch that it was a working structure fire, and when they got there they encountered fire coming from the third floor of the home, which was the attic.
He said the homeowner was inside at the time of the incident and received some thermal burns.
Diehl said firefighters had the fire under control within about 20 minutes.
He said the home appears livable despite the damage that was done.
“The home is repairable,” Diehl said. “There’s some water damage to it, windows are out of it, (but) it should be repairable.”
Diehl said the cause of the fire appears to be suspicious in nature, and remains under investigation by a state police fire marshal.
He said firefighters remained on scene for about two hours.
Diehl said also assisting at the scene were the Lehighton Fire Department, Bowmanstown Fire Department, Parryville Fire Department, Lehighton Ambulance and Lehighton Ambulance Rehab.
“We had very good manpower, a big turnout from all four departments,” he said. “Everything went very well.”
