The Northwestern girls pulled away from Palmerton for a key Colonial League victory on Monday, while the Tigers boys stayed unbeaten by edging rival Northern Lehigh.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Northwestern-Palmerton

Northwestern won its seventh straight game, pulling away from host Palmerton for a convincing 49-27 Colonial League victory.

Natalie Conner scored all of her game-high 16 points, which included four three-pointers, in the first half as the Tigers built a 16-point halftime advantage.

Northwestern also received 12 points from Mallory Conner.

Cate Morgan topped the Blue Bombers with eight points, while Emma Rex added six.

Rowan Adams scored nine of her game-high 20 points in the first quarter to help Southern Lehigh grab an early lead and cruise to a 50-22 non-league victory over Pleasant Valley.

Eliana Marques added five points in the opening frame as the host Spartans raced to an 18-2 advantage.

The winners also received 12 points from Samantha Fontanez while the Bears were paced by Amaya Fuentes and Lily Hower, who both tallied five points.

Northwestern-Northern Lehigh

Northwestern held off a second-half rally by Northern Lehigh to claim a narrow 49-48 Colonial League victory.

The Tigers, who remain undefeated, built a double-digit halftime lead before the Bulldogs started their comeback.

Kellen Bauer and Michael Bauer both scored five points in the third quarter to trim the NL deficit from 11 to four points.

Michael Bauer poured in seven points in the final period to lead the Bulldog charge, but Mason Bollinger tallied 13 of his game-high 21 points in the fourth to help Northwestern hang on for the win.

The Tigers also received eight points from Brady Krimmel. Kellen Bauer ended with 15 for Nolehi, as did Colin Karetsky.
